Wal-Mart to Offer Most Black Friday Promotions Online First

Wal-Mart offered a disappointing forecast in October, predicting that revenue in its current fiscal year will be flat.

Wal-Mart is also holding only one Black Friday doorbuster event, as opposed to multiple separate events offered last season. The Cincinnati-based retailer said Wednesday that its sales did not improve in the third quarter as expected and attributed this to “tepid” spending in key apparel and accessories by US customers.

Walmart, in accordance to Black Friday 2015, will give gamers cheap deals for video games, according to VG247. With the numerous leaks of price lists from retailers, it is easier to browse through them online at home than try and work it all out with an actual visit to the stores. Perhaps an even bigger change, though, is that nearly all of Walmart’s sales will be available online first, starting at 3 a.m. EST Thanksgiving day. Shoppers grew sick of this practice and with pre Black Friday deals and more shopping taking place online the patience for waiting in line for a chance at savings dropped off. “Frankly, it surprised me that there were so many that were opening early over the last couple of years“, O’Shea said.

That’s why Walmart is also hoping to satisfy deal-hunting customers by aiming to keep enough of the most popular items in stock, including TVs and toys.

Walmart finally unveiled its Black Friday deals about 2 weeks before the annual shopping frenzy begins. More retailers are opening their doors to anxious shoppers on Thanksgiving Day, turning what once was a holiday for relaxation and overeating into a shopping frenzy.

Best Buy announced it would be open from 5 p.m.to 1 a.m. on Thursday and would open again at 8 a.m. on Black Friday. “For that reason, a few people are now avoiding the day completely and finishing their shopping early in order to avoid the headaches that a few associate with the Black Friday experience”.
