Walcott: Arsenal can beat Bayern Munich
Arsene Wenger believes his side’s 3-0 win at Watford on Saturday is flawless preparation for tomorrow’s crucial Champions League soccer meeting with Bayern Munich.
The Gunners resumed domestic action following the worldwide break looking to carry on from the rout of Manchester United, and they delivered another impressive display when winning 3-0 at Watford in Saturday’s late kick-off. “We have a season to play and am optimistic he will be our coach after July 1, 2016”.
Notably, however, Wenger has suggested that he could make a couple of changes to his starting XI, hinting that he will rotate his squad for the two competitions, prompting a few observers to speculate that he may actually be prioritising the Premier League this time around.
He further affirmed that they still need to decide the approach and strategy for the upcoming match. I’m going to have faith in Arsenal and Arsene Wenger here, we get Arsenal with a goal head start here at better than evens.
Bayern have won on each of their last two visits to the Emirates en route to knocking out the Gunners in the last 16 in 2013 and 2014 and it would be little surprise to see them inflict another damaging blow. Now to correct we need a great performance.
“We could be suspected of not taking the first two Champions League games seriously enough, but that won’t be a problem against Bayern”, the Frenchman told reporters. “We know we are capable of getting results against Bayern Munich and we obviously want to put things right”, the England worldwide is quoted as saying by ESPN FC. It will be a very tough game for Arsenal – and they simply have to come good.
Asked if Arsenal had to beat Bayern either this week or in Munich in a fortnight, Wenger said: “That is a realistic statement”.
Cech added: “We had a really big game against Manchester United last week before the internationals, so when you win those games (you have to) win another game”. “It won’t be an easy task there but we are well prepared”, captain Philipp Lahm said of the match.
Guardiola’s side have scored 37 times in their last 11 games and have conceded just 4.
The Gunners also have a gem in Mesut Ozil, who has always appeared a Guardiola-type player with otherworldly playmaking sense and an incredibly refined passing ability.
