Walker Raised $7.4M In Run For President
The report shows Alex Walker was paid $4,819 between June 30 and September and Matt Walker was paid $4,824. The governor’s two sons, Matt and Alex, were also on the campaign payroll and made a combined $9,560. That’s according to reports filed yesterday with the Federal Election Commission. Communications director Kirsten Kukowski, more than $58,000. “All of those things come. Instead of doing what a lot of candidates do and whine about this, that or whatever, for me I accept it for what it is”. “Too many Americans worry that our nation is heading in the wrong direction, but Governor Walker is hopeful the eventual Republican nominee will champion an optimistic conservative vision that both inspires and offers a clear choice in 2016”. His current term runs through 2018.
Scott Walker raised a lot of money for a candidate who would decide he was no longer financially viable enough to continue his run for president. The FEC filing was the first containing hard numbers that the Walker campaign had to make because of his late formal entry into the race on July 13.
Walker dropped out of the race September 21 as it became apparent the campaign would run out of money. Marco Rubio of Florida, who raised a similar sum to Walker over the past three months, said he had a “burn rate” of 40%. Walker raised half as much as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and a third as much as retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.
When Hillary Clinton finished her unsuccessful 2008 presidential campaign with $12 million in debts to creditors, it took her more than four years to pay off that sum.
The campaign also spent more than $1.1 million for mail pieces sent directly to potential donors or voters.
Evenson issued a written statement saying Walker was thankful to the tens of thousands of supporters who gave to his campaign.
Walker has promised to pay back travel costs for the taxpayer-funded security detail that traveled with him as he campaigned for president.
Walker says he will have to see how the bill is drafted before commenting on his support. The campaign paid more than $126,000 to one firm alone, D.C.-based Harbinger LLC, to provide “event production consulting”.
