Walker to Trump: We Don’t Need an Apprentice in the White House
Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker on Monday will call for sweeping restrictions on organized labor in the U.S., seeking to replicate nationwide his successful effort as Wisconsin’s governor to curb the power of unions.
Union leaders are livid. And Democratic presidential contender Hillary Rodham Clinton accused him of bullying union members.
Walker’s plan describes the the board as “a one-sided advocate for big labor special interests”.
“It’s a shameful thing for him to running for president who want to put and sink this country down and destroy the middle class”, Arguello-Kline said.
Nichols said Walker “has the capacity to do that” but “we will see if he goes there”. On the Canadian border question, for example, “I think you would get a lot of traction out of saying, ‘Why are you asking me about that?'” Nelson said.
He disclosed his schemes in a mid-September speech in Las Vegas. He didn’t like what he heard. “Some day, when I’m old and broken down, I’m going to be able to retire without government assistance”.
The governor has been struggling in the polls for the past month, and many experts have said he needed to have a strong showing in this debate in order to remain viable in the months ahead. He has been Wisconsin’s governor since 2011.
What Walker is proposing is sweeping and would be among the biggest changes to labor unions in American history. They said he needs to be more aggressive and make himself stand out from other candidates.
The highlight for Walker came right away, in his opening salvo against Trump. “His campaign is floundering and so he does what he always does when he can’t think of real solutions”.
“But even if Scott Walker weren’t rabidly attacking unions, the fact is that for 80 years, the nation’s labor laws have treated anti-union, anti-worker behavior unseriously”, he said. “Federal employees should work for the taxpayers, not the other way around”. “This is desperate action on the part of a very desperate candidate”.
“Just because he says it, doesn’t make it true”.
“He also wants to stop unions from using federal resources to collect the portion of dues they spend on political causes and lobbying”.
“We don’t need an apprentice in the White House – we have one right now”, said Walker, a reference to Trump’s former role as host of NBC’s reality show “The Apprentice” and a jab at President Obama. For jobs over $100,000, the act requires those employers to pay overtime to workers who exceed 40 hours in a week.
Marquette University’s law school began polling possible recall election matchups between Walker and various Democrats in January 2012.
