Walmart revamps Black Friday shopping
In order to simplify the Black Friday experience in-store (and help manage the madness for employees and fellow customers alike), Walmart is also banishing the staggered doorbusters it used to offer throughout the day, according to USA TODAY.
Part of this is the 1 Hour Guarantee that includes huge tech deals that shoppers will get on Black Friday or get delivered by Christmas at Black Friday pricing if they are in line between 6-7 PM on Thanksgiving Day.
Best Buy announced it would be open from 5 p.m.to 1 a.m. on Thursday and would open again at 8 a.m. on Black Friday. However, studies show that many consumers begin their holiday shopping well before Black Friday.
JcPenney opens at 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

Walmart is advising shoppers to download their mobile app, which features the retailer’s Black Friday sale items and will include store maps and crowd management safety plans, in the near future, according to the retailer.

In the past, this staple deal lured a large number of customers into physical stores on the lookout for the latest and best deals offered the whole evening. Sister store Babies ” R”Us is hosting special holiday events for parents and babies on select Saturdays in November. To me, Thanksgiving is for family, no matter how good the deals are so, after my early morning run to the drug stores, you won’t find me out during the day on Thanksgiving.
With a choice to shop online and avoid such situations, many shoppers have ditched Black Friday.
Wal-Mart could use the boost: margins at the retailer, due to report fiscal third quarter earnings on Tuesday, have come under pressure due to costs related to entry-level wages, investments in e-commerce and competition from Amazon.com as well as regional supermarkets and dollar stores.
