Walt Disney World pulling plug on famed Electrical Parade
Disney announced its intentions to end the parade this fall on Wednesday.
Most recently, the parade has been at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida, a run that ends October 9.
“Keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for updates on entertainment experiences at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort”.
But the parade is not coming to a permanent end. “The parade has always been a favorite, and it was time to come back”.
That means that Paint the Night, the astounding high-tech 60th anniversary parade now running at Disneyland, will cease nightly performances starting September 5, aside from occasional evenings during the holidays.
In early 2017, fans will once again be able to see the brightly lit spectacle parade down Main Street at Disneyland for a “limited engagement”, the release stated. It has 500,000 lights, a 23-foot clock tower, and a 108-foot-long American flag.
Characters also wear costumes adorned in lights. After that, if you want to catch the parade, you’ll have to go to Disneyland in California, where the parade will have a limited run.
The announcement comes as another nighttime parade, Paint the Night, ends its run on September 5 as part of the theme park’s 60th anniversary celebration. It will still be shown on select nights during the holiday season, Disney officials said.
