Wanyama strikes late to secure Tottenham win vs Palace
Townsend is expected to line up for Crystal Palace against Spurs in their Premier League clash on Saturday and the winger could be forgiven for feeling like he has a point to prove.
Joe Ledley has been named in Crystal Palace’s line-up to play Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane this afternoon.
He added: “Tottenham at home isn’t an ideal away game for our first so we’ll have to be at our best”.
And speaking at a post-match media conference, Pochettino said: “I think it’s very important now to recover this feeling [of winning] because the end of the season was hard, was tough”. The France worldwide will also miss the club’s first game back in the Champions League, which is scheduled to take place on 13 or 14 of September. “I was clear about Bentaleb, he’s not in my plans, but Clinton is in my squad and he’s in my plans”.
Alli’s impact was instant, his bending pass putting Janssen through one-on-one, only for the striker to skew his finish wide with his weaker right foot.
“I am happy for Victor [Wanyama]”.
Hugo Lloris’ hamstring injury meant Michel Vorm started only his fifth Premier League fixture since joining Spurs from Swansea two years ago and the Dutch shot-stopper was drawn into the action nearly immediately as Jason Puncheon tested him with an early shot.
Janssen missed a number of chances to open the scoring before Wanyama finally broke the deadlock, but Pochettino was not anxious by the Dutchman’s profligate showing. We created a lot of chances in the first half and sometimes it is hard to keep going in the second, you can feel the frustration, but their energy was fantastic. He is big, strong and his hold up play stood out.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is confident Michel Vorm will prove an adequate replacement for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris following the Frenchman’s opening-day injury against Everton.
“We need to be careful to try to avoid problems in the future”.
