Warcraft: Skies Of Azeroth Teases The Movie In Virtual Reality
According to director Duncan Jones, the Warcraft movie is “pretty much” in the bag, save for a few VFX shots which need to be added. WETA Workshop have set up a booth showing off some of their remarkable props work on the film-and we’ve got footage of all the awesomeness right here!
However in a tease ahead of the potential reveal, Legendary Pictures released a virtual reality experience called Warcraft: Skies of Azeroth. Also on hand was Warcraft director Duncan Jones, who personally unveiled the life-size Orgrim and Doomhammer. “With this world building that we’re doing in the movie, is there something we can do that can give you that sense of world building in VR?” An app called Legendary VR is available for Android and iOS, contains three different experiences one of which is Warcraft. The second was Beware Crimson Peak, which found us entering the haunted (and terrifying) gothic mansion Allerdale Hall from Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming film. The final one, Jaeger Pilot was released previous year but now has smartphone integration through the app.
Legendary partners with Google to give away to Comic-Con attendees 50,000 new and improved Google Cardboard viewers in Google’s biggest ever partnership of this kind.
The best part? All three VR experiences can now be downloaded on Legendary.com/VR! These will be sold exclusively at Comic-Con, at the Mondo booth (#835).
Meanwhile, look for Warcraft to make its way into theaters in a little less than a year from now on June 10th, 2016.
