Warner Bros. knew of Arkham Knight’s PC issues months before launch
Given that the game is largely unavailable for sale on PC after the embarrassing disaster that was the porting job, the choice probably isn’t even there anymore. Though it has its flaws, Arkham Knight brings Rocksteady’s epic Batman saga to a close with a gorgeous, engrossing, and undeniably fun experience. Sefton Hill, the creative director of Batman: Arkham Knight expressed their intention of keeping Joker six feet under so as to explore a Gotham without a Joker. Now, Rocksteady is back with Arkham Knight, and it does not disappoint. The game world too is far more interesting and vibrant than that second game.
You might point out that the Batmobile has been depicted as having guns before, and you’d be right. But those looking at the larger picture could see where things were headed, and the culmination of that journey is “Batman: Arkham Knight“, a game in which players can roam the Dark Knight’s city. In its predecessor, we saw a minutely detailed Arkham City but Rocksteady has now taken the full-advantage of next-generation hardware in order to create a Gotham that is alive and around five times the size of its predecessor. You can do this by using help from various walkthrough guides, because the final fight is well worth it and it is a nice feeling to put Riddler at silence once and for all. However, people working on the development team for Arkham Knight have come forward (anonymously to protect their jobs) to explain this debacle really is all on Warner Bros.
I understand that despite its own TV show and an eventual comic series, Batman Beyond isn’t exactly the most iconic chapter in Batman’s history, and there are many more stories Rocksteady could potentially take on if they weren’t ready to let Batman go just yet. Throughout the Arkham series, the core gameplay formula has been consistently improved and it finally attains near perfection in Arkham Knight. There are a greater variety of enemies and they’re smarter than ever before. The answer is something of a letdown: The sources say that Warner simply thought it was good enough.
Graphically and aurally, the game is magnificent, because of course it is. From the rain drops trickling down Batman’s armour to the colourful, neon-lit streets of Gotham, every detail is meticulously crafted. If you’re a fan of the Arkham series, you should double absolutely check it out. Nightwing keeps track of all the illegal weapon trading Penguin does and notifies Batman accordingly.
Kotaku also claims that while developer Iron Galaxy is credited as providing “additional engineering and support” for the PC version of the game it was it – and not main developer Rocksteady – that built the PC release. The Batmobile is often crammed into the game where it doesn’t belong and the repetition of those side missions becomes a chore.
