Warren Beatty Wants the Academy President to ‘Publicly Clarify’ the Oscars Mix-Up
The late-night comedian quipped that Trump, who pulled off a political upset win with his campaign that targeted immigration, had taken the heat off Hollywood and its annual gala.

Hollywood legends Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were entrusted with the task of announcing the best picture award. And then he paused more. She read the words: “La La Land”.
Here’s where La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz deserves his due credit, as he took the mic and made it clear to the audience and to the Moonlight people that Moonlight had actually won.
“If every one of you took a minute to reach out to one person you disagree with … and have a positive, considerate conversation … we could make America great again”, he said.
Out of this year’s Oscars Best Picture crop, the only film that has come close to Moonlight’s low-grossing numbers is the Texas-set crime drama Hell or High Water, with $27 million in ticket sales. “I opened the envelope and it said Emma Stone, La La Land”, Beatty said.
It hadn’t been all that unexpected an evening until then. The Oscar telecast hadn’t begun with a cornball movie-themed musical number, but with Justin Timberlake performing “Can’t Stop The Feeling”, his nominated song from the animated movie Trolls.
Almost 24 hours after the snafu, Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel broke his silence on the shocking moment with a few words on his show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live”. The Miss Universe event, which witnessed a similar gaffe in 2015 when Miss Columbia was wrongly announced before Miss Philippines was given the crown, also trolled the Academy for what host Jimmy Kimmel called “the weirdest TV finale since Lost” and tweeted, “Have your people call our people – we know what to do”.
Once the awards got underway, though, they started to go in interesting directions in a hurry.
He also pointed out that his wife gave birth to their daughter four days ago. Emma Stone had the time of her life at the Oscars, both backstage and at numerous parties. It’s the sort of inglorious yet exhilarating moment that the Academy Awards aren’t going to be able to shake off, ever.
