Warriors 24-game winning streak ends with loss to Bucks
The Warriors lost this game with the Bucks only having nine players available, as Damien Inglis, Chris Copeland, Tyler Ennis and Miles Plumlee didn’t play tonight. They won the three-point shooting contest, 42.9% to Golden State’s 23.1% from beyond the arc. The beauty of this team is that they never allowed themselves to even consider the possibility of losing.
One night after being taken to two overtimes by the Boston Celtics to raise their winning streak to 24 games, the Golden State Warriors fell to the Milwaukee Bucks. The final score was 108-95. “That’s why it is so hard to do what these guys have done so far”.
“The schedule and the road trip kind of caught up with us”. After Golden State’s try at an alley-oop off the inbounds pass failed, Boston had the ball with 0.7 seconds left, but Kelly Olynyk’s off-balance jumper was wide. The Los Angeles Lakers hold the record of 33, which was set in the 1971-’72 season and was halted by the Bucks as well.
Morris, a Philadelphia native, had 13 points in a decisive third-quarter stretch as Detroit (13-11) ended a four-game road losing streak and a three-game slide in Philadelphia. In fact, don’t be surprised if they start a new streak on Wednesday when they return to Oracle Arena to host the Phoenix Suns. This was no squeaker at the buzzer, but a Bucks runaway at the end.
“For us, we didn’t talk about the streak”, Milwaukee coach Jason Kidd said. They came in averaging, 117.1 points per game.
Stephen Curry posted a team-high 28 points, adding seven rebounds and five assists.
The Bucks had an answer each time.
“It’s the toughest loss we’ve had all season”, Crowder said.
Michael Carter-Williams was huge off the bench as he scored 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and recorded five steals.
Both teams have played a lot of games recently, as this was the second of a back-to-back for both teams. “Maybe we can go 82-0”, says Green via ESPN. “It’s frustrating because we felt we could win the game”.
As the final seconds ticked off the clock inside Milwaukee’s BMO Harris Bradley Center on Saturday night, the cameras cut to reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry, who had a bemused, nearly bewildered look on his face.
The Bucks were in control for most of the game. Giannis Antetokounmpo had a triple-double, with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
Walton said his team was slow on defensive rotations, and that 16 turnovers were costly.
The Milwaukee fans, many of whom were clad in green “24-1” shirts, earned the right to celebrate tonight.
The Warriors have had close calls – an overtime win against the Nets, two close ones against Toronto and a game that went down to the wire in Utah on November 30 – but had their biggest scare of the season Friday, when they needed double overtime to beat the Celtics without Klay Thompson.
The Warriors trailed 59-48 at halftime after shooting 2 of 13 from three-point range.
After it took 50 minutes of basketball to beat the Celtics, it’s only fair to wonder how much Golden State will have left in the tank on Saturday. No one was picking the Bucks to upset the Warriors.
