Warriors favored over LeBron and Cavaliers in the Finals
The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors meet Thursday in game one of the 2017 NBA Finals at the Oracle Arena on ABC.
Cavaliers jumped to a quick 14-5 lead and were up 43-27 after the first quarter – posting a franchise record for points in a quarter of a playoff game. The answer was in the closing minutes of the third, with a three that extended the Cavs’ lead to 32.
Before Game 5, James said if he would surpass Jordan, it would be an honor.
James also had eight rebounds and eight assists on Thursday night.
Lue knows the Cavs are facing a hard task, one made tougher with the addition of the versatile Durant, who can score down low, from the perimeter and free-throw line. With a Golden State win two years ago, and the Cavs staging a comeback last year, this provides the ultimate stage to settle the score.
As a result of this, many view the Warriors as a considerable favorite to win the championship.
They still have two-time most valuable player Stephen Curry. The story lines are plenty, including a few fresh ones, such as acting Golden State coach Mike Brown going against the team he coached not once but twice.
The Golden State Warriors get reacquainted with the Western Conference championship trophy after sweeping the Spurs this week.
The Cavaliers are 7-0-1 ATS in their last 8 road games, 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games playing on 3 or more days rest and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
The Boston Celtics were knocked out of the playoffs, following a 135-102 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Shaquille O’Neal, 5,250 6. Not the way we wanted to finish, but we came a long ways from the beginning of the year, came together.
Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James has moved past Hall of Famer Michael Jordan as the leading scorer in National Basketball Association playoff history.
It’s unlikely the two will be matched up against each other often this year – the Warriors are more likely to cross-match and put Green on James – but it will be a compelling storyline.
He has scored 955 of those points against Boston, the most for any player against any team.
On the topic of age, the fact that James entered the National Basketball Association right out of high school, and played at an All-Star level nearly right away, is his biggest advantage over his historical competition. It’s the LeBron factor. “So having that team like Golden State over there who is always pushing us, I know from on this side, it’s great for us and it’s great for the game”.
