Warriors find motivation to join National Basketball Association elite
Golden State leads the series 2-0 after a 122-103 win on Sunday night. Unfortunately for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Smith was a nonfactor Sunday night after his late-game mistake in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. When we get into a dynasty is Michael Jordan and them winning six, that’s a dynasty. Lost in the Smith debacle and Curry’s shooting is the fact that Cleveland actually won half of the eight regulation quarters that have been played so far in Golden State’s arena.
Game 5 is Wednesday night at TD Garden, and Celtics coach Brad Stevens is trying to stay positive with a team that has given up a 2-0 lead and fell to 1-6 on the road in these playoffs.
Moments later, James drilled a three-pointer from the left wing to finally put away the young Celtics, who will now feel the huge pressure of trying to hold off the three-time champion.
“You look at it, they’ve got four Hall of Famers on their team in Klay, Dray, Steph and KD”. Stephen Curry is perhaps the best shooter in National Basketball Association history, seemingly able to make any shot at any time from any distance, regardless of the situation or how tightly the defense is playing him.
Finally, the Warriors showed you who they are.
“Even with turnover from players, you have a continuity of management, continuity of culture in organizations”, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said. Golden State outscored Cleveland 17-7 and controlled the extra period.
A reporter asked Tristan, 27, if he was “helpless” guarding Stephen Curry, one of the star players on the Warriors team. And while the Warriors came back to win Game 4, a tone had been set – one that carried through the rest of the series. Love has made just four of his shots from distance, he was 3-for-8 Sunday, and simply hasn’t been the No. 2 threat the Cavaliers need him to be to top the Warriors. Against the Warriors, that blueprint is fairly simple: Gum up the defending champions’ pretty offense, make the game physical, be opportunistic in transition and rely on James to dissect their defense in the halfcourt.
“We have to do a better job at home”, Cavs guard J.R. Smith said.
I expected Golden State to win this series in five games before the series started, and I’ll predict Game 3 to be their lone loss in this year’s Finals.
“So at some point, when this is all said and done, I hope to kind of just sit back and really truly appreciate, from start to finish, all that went into it”.
According to ESPN’s Chris Haynes, Andre Iguodala could be nearing a return to the Finals after not experiencing any pain in his left knee over the past few days. He had played only three minutes in the conference finals against Houston, when Golden State went with smaller lineups to match the Rockets’ perimeter shooters.
“Just because we’re going home doesn’t mean we can relax”, James said.
