Warriors settle score, beat Bucks, 121-112
It wasn’t necessarily pretty, but the Warriors will take it. On a night when it appeared the Bucks might have their number for the second time in less than a week, Golden State gutted out a victory thanks to a strong fourth quarter push.
Three days after suffering their first loss of the season, the Warriors thrashed the Phoenix Suns in a 128-103 rout Wednesday. COVERS POWER RANKINGS: Bucks (+3) + Warriors (-18.5) + home court (-3.0) = Warriors -24.5 WHAT CAPPERS SAY: “The Bucks were the most improved team in the league last year, but may see the biggest drop in wins this year”. The Warriors have scored early in many of their games this season and it has rewarded them, according to Bleacher Report However there is one team that is slowly but surely becoming a possible threat to the Warriors.
“I’m not satisfied because I thought we should have been better”, Green said. The Warriors took the Bucks from behind and beat Milwaukee 121-112 in a fourth quarter outburst. The Warriors were down by 11 with 8:53 left in the game but after Green’s run, Golden State’s offense shifted into high gear and outscored the Bucks 36-19 to come away with the Warriors’ 26th victory of the season.
The Warriors gave up 70 in a half because the Bucks shot it well, particularly guards Khris Middleton and Carter-Williams.
Green was clearly disturbed by the mostly verbal run-in, later insisting, “No man is going to touch my head”.
Mayo said he was upset that Green called out Michael Carter-Williams for a post-dunk celebration at the end of Milwaukee’s win last Saturday that snapped the Warriors’ 28-game regular-season winning streak dating to last season.
Mayo told Spears, “Little love tap”. “At the end of the day, he felt that Michael Carter-Williams did something that wasn’t much class. He went even further with class speaking on our team situation”. A stacked Golden State team may prevent Curry from reaching the heights Jordan did as an individual.
Kept to just 12 points the last time the teams met, Thompson led the scoring for the Warriors with 27 and Draymond Green chipped in 21, while Curry was one assist short of a triple-double, also pulling down 10 rebounds. “We made it public we wanted revenge but didn’t come out with that mentality”, Warriors intrim head coach Luke Walton said. You already know Thompson and Green will have a little added vigor while guarding the Syracuse alumnus. I just happened to get a lot of great looks. “I mean we had 58 points”.
The game stayed tight from there before Curry used a slick crossover to score a layup that put the Warriors up for good with just over two minutes left. Elsewhere: Detroit Pistons 147, Chicago Bulls 144 (4 OT): Andre Drummond had 33 points and 21 rebounds, Reggie Jackson netted 14 of his 31 in the fourth overtime, including two free throws with four seconds left and the visiting Pistons outlasted the Bulls despite Jimmy Butler’s career-high 43 points.
“When Klay gets going”, said Curry, “there’s nothing better to watch”.
