Warriors shock Thunder on Steph Curry’s last-second 3-pointer
It was another record-breaking day for Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, as his game-winning shot with 0.6 seconds to go in overtime gave the Dubs a 121-118 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Especially when Kevin Durant fouls out with four minutes to play in overtime. So I was all ready to write tonight’s recap in the fourth quarter, with the Warriors down twelve, and Stephen Curry still resting from a long stretch of play. In response, Westbrook and Durant combined to once again build the Thunder lead to double digits.
Detroit’s Andre Drummond posted his NBA-leading 50th double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds as the Pistons defeated Milwaukee 102-91.
The greatest (shooter) ever tied the best mark for made three-pointers in a single game with the clutch three from the parking lot.
With the deficit still at single digits, Curry came back into the game after a reported tweaked ankle.
Westbrook landed on Curry’s ankle shortly after the start of the second half, causing the reigning MVP to motion that he needed to come out of the game.
Perhaps the best thing about the video is the reaction of Curry’s team-mate, Draymond Green, in the bottom left of the screen, just as the ball drops. Good luck to the people of San Antonio, Oklahoma City, LA (Clippers), and whoever comes out of the East (Cleveland, Toronto, Boston), as the Golden State Warriors and Steph Curry are just too good right now.
Russell Westbrook added 26 points in the thriller.
The Warriors led for a total of 28.9 seconds but emerged victorious with a 53-5 record despite trailing in the final second of regulation and overtime. Stephen Curry and Michael Jordan are both dominant guards that are nearly impossible to defend on certain nights. Having already broken his own record for 3-pointers in a season (286) in overtime, Curry wasn’t finished. Keeping Golden State from making an inevitable run to erase the deficit, however, has proved to be more complex.
PHOENIX – Alex Len scored 22 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and Phoenix snapped a 13-game losing streak. The Warriors have answered every challenge, whether it was a grudge match against the Clippers, a Finals rematch with the Cavs, a clash with the Spurs or going up against these Thunder. However, they get to change all of that when they entertain the Golden State Warriors at their home fortress, the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
I can’t imagine any kind of lock-down defensive performance from the new acquisition against Golden State’s perimeter torture chamber, but hitting big shots in big moments could be a hint at something he could bring something lacking to the Thunder in the playoffs.
Curry scored 46 points and tied an National Basketball Association record shared by Kobe Bryant and Donyell Marshall with his 12th 3-pointer of the game.
