Warriors’ Stephen Curry: Amasses 34 points in overtime victory
The Brooklyn Nets will be hosting the Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors will be hosting the Toronto Raptors in their next games.
“We have to get to the level of learning how to win”, Nets coach Lionel Hollins said, “because there is something to knowing how to win”. “It’s a heartbreaking loss”.
“Defensively, we did not compete and they were able to pretty much get their whole team in a rhythm”, said interim coach Luke Walton. “The kid (Johnson) made a nice pass. They got unlucky”.
“We were going to see if it loosened up throughout the day, but it hasn’t”, Walton said.
The Nets didn’t respond well to the misfortune.
At 10-0, the Warriors are on their best starting record to a season in their franchise history.
Stephen Curry’s three point dagger with 5:29 left in the game:- The Nets had missed a curcial field goal and they failed to extend their lead. Phoenix led by 34 points entering the fourth quarter while halting the Nuggets’ three-game winning streak. “He’s a luxury to have on the court”. Thompson did not play against Brooklyn, and surely it was a factor in the Warriors’ needing overtime to beat a team that came in 1-8. “Nope. I can live with the result when we play that way”. “I blew that chip shot”.
Stephen Curry scored 34 points to lead the Warriors, but they didn’t come easily. Andre Drummond finished with 18 points and 19 rebounds. Green, the former second-round pick, had 23 points on 8-10 shooting, to go along with 8 rebounds and 12 – TWELVE – assists. Bogut chipped in a 10-point, 18-rebound double-double in 18 minutes. Even when it was revealed that Klay Thompson wouldn’t play due to a stiff back, the general consensus was that Golden State would cruise to a victory. Jack spent most of the night blitzing Curry, often with the help of a second Nets defender.
Bucks 108, Cavaliers 105, 2 OT: Jerryd Bayless scored 17 points and held LeBron James scoreless over the final 3:15 of the second overtime, and Milwaukee snapped Cavaliers’ eight-game winning streak. Brook Lopez had a chance to win the game, but missed it. And as we’ve written a few times in the past, the Warriors might not play incredible defense for the entire game (which is impossible to do in the pace they’re trying to push to constantly), but they give these defensive crunches which leaves teams stunned and well behind by the time they recover.
Jack and Young each sank a pair of free throws in the final 30 seconds of regulation to give Brooklyn a 3-point edge. He hit a 3-pointer with 7:27 left to cut it to four, and after the two teams traded buckets, he canned another 3-pointer from the left wing to draw Golden State within 85-84.
The explosion was surprising because the 35-year-old gunner had struggled greatly on the first eight games of the season, never scoring more than 15 points before scoring 18 against the Suns and catching fire against the Pistons. “Andre came up huge. That’s the leader of our team”. The break didn’t stop the Golden State run.
Before the opening tip off, a moment of silence was observed along with the playing of the French national anthem in memory of those who lost their lives in the terror attacks in France on Friday. The exterior of Oracle Arena was lit in red, white and blue as part of the tribute….
Talk to him 60 games into the season about being that good, he pleaded. As was the case against the Clippers this season, when Curry scored 13 points in five minutes in the fourth quarter, rallying the Warriors from a late deficit.
