Warriors’ Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr both fined $25000
“They’ve got us to where we wanted to be – and that’s Game 7”.
Steve Kerr is also facing a fine for calling out an official by name after his team’s loss. As the Times notes, no team has ever come back from a 3-1 Finals deficit to win the championship.
Stephen Curry, who had received his second MVP award this year, was slapped with his sixth foul after grabbing Lebron James in the fourth quarter. “Definitely didn’t mean to throw it at a fan”, Curry said.
The mouthguard struck a courtside fan, the son of a Cavaliers minority owner, but by the time Curry apologized to the man it was already too late. “But most importantly, Curry did apologize nearly immediately to the supporters after he threw the mouthpiece” Kerr articulated.
Golden State star Stephen Curry had quite a night on Thursday. I went over and apologized to him because that’s obviously not where I was trying to take my frustration out.
“It’s two of the greatest words in the world, and that’s “Game Seven”, gushed LeBron James after his Cavaliers forced the decider on Thursday with a ruthless 115-101 Game Six win over the Warriors.
“It’s all good”, Andrew Forbes told ESPN’s Tom Haberstroh.
I was just kind of debriefed on what the security thought happened with some guy that poses with fake credentials and gets backstage at a lot of events, the NBA Finals and all that stuff. Kerr took exception to some of the calls whistled against Curry. It was the first ejection of his career. [Referee] Jason Phillips falls for that, for a flop.
“He had every right to be upset”, Kerr said.
Curry was angry about several fouls that were called against him and is now likely to face a fine and not a suspension according to unidentified National Basketball Association league officials.
Guard Kyrie Irving had another strong game for the Cavaliers with 23 points, while Tristan Thompson added 16 rebounds.
