Warriors stretch home win streak to 42 games
The home team won the frame 30-17, providing all the margin of victory it needed.
Nine days he and the Suns must wait. The Jazz beat the Mavericks 121-119 in overtime on this bucket.
Danny Green lent support with a 15-point haul for the Spurs.
Archie Goodwin scored 20 points and Markieff Morris 19 for the Suns, who have lost nine straight and 24 of 26. But while the Bulls’ impressive regular season record in Michael Jordan’s first full year back donning a No. 23 Bulls jersey ended in another championship for Chicago, what if Michael and Co. had been stymied in the Finals by the Sonics?
San Antonio had no answer for Golden State in the team’s first regular season meeting, but Gregg Popovich may have some tricks up his sleeve in the postseason. The Warriors remain a great defensive team on paper, and their metrics usually look terrific over the course of a game.
The Hawks led by five at halftime and broke it open in the third quarter, sending the sloppy Bulls to their fourth straight loss and 13th in 18 games. However, he got little support in those final 12 minutes as his teammates combined to go 3-for-14 and total seven points. Every other team in the National Basketball Association has a collective chip on their shoulder when they play against the defending champs, and it’s something of a right of passage in the league. Golden State played its second and final home game of February.
Evan Fournier, whose 3-pointer tied the game with 13.3 seconds left, led Orlando with 28 points. Add in his two assists and he had a hand in 12 of the team’s 21 points after re-entering the game at 6:26 of the period.
To put in perspective how well Curry has been playing this season, on the road Wednesday against the Washington Wizards, Curry scored 51 points.
A ruthless 19-point outburst (on just eight shots!) in the first quarter reminded everyone who the MVP is. Phoenix made Golden State work for their shots, but the Warriors still shot 50% from the field. The Warriors big three of Curry, Thompson and Draymond Green, has given the league fits all season. We always have one quarter where we struggle with points.
I know that a lot has been made of this Warriors season, but it’s important to remember just how impossible it is what they’re accomplishing. The Warriors are 24-0 at home this season and have won 10 in a row overall.
It was like Saturday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder all over again, as an impressive start gave way to a depressing let down quarter.
– As part of the Suns’ efforts to celebrate Black History Month, Ring of Honor member Walter Davis was recognized during the first timeout of the first quarter.
– Among those in attendance were Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. PST. With reserves Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and Leandro Barbosa on the floor when the fourth quarter began, the Warriors outscored Houston 17-5 over the first four-plus minutes to take charge.
Curry and Harden took turns scorching the nets from long range in an entertaining first half that saw the Warriors lead 38-22 before the Rockets (27-27) rallied within 69-66 at the break. Bogut went over 1,000 blocks for his career….
Harden dropped in six 3-pointers and 11 free throws.
