Warriors want more after making National Basketball Association history with 16-0 start
The Warriors set a new record on Tuesday for the longest unbeaten start to a season in history, routing the Lakers 111-77 at the Oracle Arena to notch their 16th consecutive victory.
The Golden State Warriors are poised to break a serious record on November 24, they might become the first team to start a season 16-0.
The Capitols went on to lose in the final round of the 1949 postseason tournament to the Minneapolis Lakers, while the Rockets edged the NY Knicks in the 1994 National Basketball Association Finals for their first championship.
“We didn’t start the season trying to do this and kind of fell into it a little bit in the last couple of games”, Bogut said after the Warriors defeated the Denver Nuggets on Sunday for their 15th win.
Draymond Green added 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists as the Warriors extended their team-record home winning streak to 27 games with coach Steve Kerr watching from behind the scenes while recovering from complications following two back surgeries.
The Warriors built a game-high 41-point lead in the fourth quarter. That’s skewed somewhat by a 50-point rout of Memphis on November 2, but still, they won all but five games by double digits.
“Yeah, they could [break the 33-game streak] – because they’re good”.
And then, as he celebrated his victory, he looked toward the Lakers bench, and offered up a hand gesture foreshadowing the Lakers loss (and the subsequent record breaking winning streak by the Warriors). That matched the worst-shooting performance of his career.
Despite the pressure of free haircuts from a chain hair cuttery resting on his shoulders, Adam performed like another great Golden State sharp-shooter, Stephen Curry.
Via ESPN, the Warriors have spent more time this season leading by more than 15 points (167 minutes) than they’ve spent trailing by any margin (149 minutes).
Power forward Julius Randle and backups Lou Williams and Larry Nance Jr. had 10 points apiece to pace Los Angeles, which shot just 37.8 percent from the field and missed 17 of its 20 3-point attempts. His shot is just not falling and if the Lakers want to grow as a team this season, Bryant may need to stop chucking away. Williams, Julius Randle and Larry Nance Jr. led the Lakers in scoring with 10 points. “But am I going to say it’s not possible?” They installed the Warriors as a fairly sizable favorite at -300.
Well, the Lakers are doing some soul-searching anyway, in part because Metta World Peace led the team in assists with three. Green wears Richardson’s No. 23.
