Washington College Cancels Classes Again Due to Missing Student’s Behavior
Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland will close its campus for a second day after a missing student went home to Pennsylvania to get a gun. The college said there were still no direct threats against its campus or anyone associated with the school.
“In the interest of caution and due to new information received from law enforcement at 9:15 this morning, we have chose to cancel classes”.
Anyone with information about Marberger is asked to the Chestertown police at 410-778-1800 or Washington College Public Safety at 410-778-7810.
There is now apparently a warrant out for the arrest of Jacob Marberger, who was only considered a missing person on Monday.
Students are being told to return to their residence halls immediately and those who live off campus should return home. Faculty and staff should return to their offices or remain in their offices until further notice, according to a statement on the school’s website. They should continue to monitor their email, the website, and WACAlerts for updates in the coming days as this situation unfolds.
Federal and state law enforcement officials are conducting a “high-intensity search” for the student, Washington College said. Officials are asking anyone who has any contact with Jacob Marberger, to speak with law enforcement immediately.
The student newspaper The Elm reported Monday that concerns began with postings on the anonymous social media app Yik Yak the night before. He was last seen driving a 1997 dark green Range Rover with Pennsylvania tags beginning with “JWY”.
Police described Marberger as 130 pounds and 5-foot-4 with brown curly hair.
A few also reached out directly to Marberger.
