Washington DC police have suspect in Lyndhurst native’s murder
Police said Thursday that 19-year-old Marcus King has been charged with second-degree murder while armed in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Matthew Shlonsky. While attending American University in D.C., he interned on Capitol Hill for U.S. Sen.
King tells WRC-TV that he’s innocent.
Police raided King’s home last night, just blocks from the site of the August 15 shooting, but he was not home.
Shlonsky was a 2010 Brush High School graduate.
He said he was nearby when Shlonsky was shot and killed but was not involved.
Police say he was a victim of an apparent drive-by shooting between two feuding groups in the Shaw neighborhood in the northeast quadrant of D.C. Sutherland graduated from American in 2013. The Metropolitan Police Department now offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
