Washington Redskins: Playoffs Scenarios and Possibilities following Week 15 Action
The Arizona Cardinals, who already guaranteed themselves a spot in the playoffs with a win last week, wrapped up the NFC West title with a 40-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday night.
That approach has paid off for the Redskins, especially in Week 15 action. The Eagles can clinch in Week 17 if they win their final two games. For the Giants to win the division, they must beat the Minnesota Vikings and the Eagles, and they need Washington to lose its final two games.
The New York Giants need the most help to return to the postseason as they need the Redskins to lose out, while they will have to win out.
The Redskins close the season out with a pair of road games against divisional foes, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. The Cardinals haven’t clinched a first-round bye yet thanks to the record of the Packers (10-4), whom they play next week at home.
Washington has reasons to be optimistic, too.
For DeSean Jackson, who would love nothing more than to eliminate his former Eagles team from playoff contention for a second straight season, the team knows “what we’re in for” on Saturday.
The NFC East leaders have been nothing short of dominant at home, but the true test, the chance to secure a playoff berth, will come on the road. “We’re just trying to find a way to get victories”.
Add in the young talent that the Redskins have brought to the offense through the 2015 draft in running back Matt Jones, wide receiver Jamison Crowder and right guard Brandon Scherff and the Redskins offense is also benefitting from young players as well as the veterans. The team’s winning percentage under the lights the past two-plus seasons has been worse than.125.
The Washington Redskins are in sole possession of first place in the NFC East heading into Week 16. They defeated the Cowboys 28-18 in Week 17 to claim the division on Sunday Night Football. “There have been games where I’ve been here where the spotlight was on us and we did consistently win”.
