Washington state man called officer to say he killed family
The neighbor, Pigott, recounted stepping outside his own home between 8:30 and 9 p.m. on Thursday to fetch some firewood off his porch when he heard gunshots – “four or five rounds and then a pause, and then another four or five rounds and a pause and then a couple more rounds”.
The gunman called 911 from the home near the town of Belfair, which is across Puget Sound from Seattle, police said.

Mason County Sheriff Casey Salisbury called the incident a “tragic day for everyone”, according to CBS affiliate KOMO.
A SWAT team has made it inside a rural Washington home after an hours-long standoff while authorities waited to see if reports of a four people shot would be confirmed.
Police have now said the girl transported to the hospital is a 12-year-old relative of the victims.
The five dead include the gunman, who shot himself after a standoff that lasted hours. The wife had two teenage sons who were adopted from Russian Federation during a previous marriage.
Pigott says the husband had a heating and air conditioning contractor business.
The Mason County sheriff’s office is reporting a shooting outside of Belfair in Mason County.
Police surrounded the home but did not immediately enter the residence because the man was armed with a handgun, Spurling said, according to the Seattle Times.
“The radio said he was down, but I don’t know what that means”, he said. They found the deceased suspect inside a different structure in another area on the property, local broadcaster KING5 reported.
