Washington State safety Shalom Luani arrested
STATE starting senior safety Shalom Luani was arrested early Wednesday morning after an incident at Domino’s Pizza in Pullman, according to Pullman police logs.
Luani was very frustrated with the two-hour wait for his pizza and became disorderly, yelling at management and other customers, Tennant said.
Luani was reportedly cooperative with Pullman police once they arrived. Per the Pullman Police Department, Luani allegedly broke the nose of a patron at Dominos during an altercation on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. The two “have been really slugging it out all camp long to find that spot behind Luani”, says CF.C beat writer Skyler Cracraft.
Second degree assault is a Class B felony and punishable by up to ten years in prison.
“He admits to being there, he doesn’t necessarily admit to breaking a guy’s nose, but he admits to being extremely angry”, Tennant said. Going forward, a prosecutor will now be forced to determine whether or not to file formal charges against him. Pullman Police Chief Gary Jenkins also corresponded with the football program on Wednesday. He said Luani is not one of the main players the police are investigating in relation to July party assault, but added that he did not know at this time whether Luani was present at that party.
Luani was an honorable mention All-Pac-12 player in 2015, his first year with the Cougars/Jacob Thorpe, SR.
Luani, the Cougs’ starting free safety, posted 90 tackles and a team-high four interceptions last season.
