According to Wasim Akram, two unidentified arm-carrying persons on a motorcycle opened fire at his auto when he was on his way. “His appearance resembled that of an official”, Wasim was reported to have told local media.
Akram, one of the fast bowling legends the game has seen, was recently roped in by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to train young pacemen.
“This was just an incident of road rage”, he said.
Speaking to media, the cricketer said a passing auto struck his vehicle and an argument ensued. Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) East Munir Sheikh said that police was trying to retrieve CCTV footage of the incident, to identify the attackers.
Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram is safe after being involved in a road-rage shooting incident in Karachi.
Akram immediately called the police helpline and filed his complaint.
Since his retirement, Akram has become a commentator and has also undertaken short term coaching assignments for PCB.
