Watch a Selection of Clips from Finding Dory
According to industry forecasts, the film will most likely break the opening record for an animated film, now held by “Shrek the Third” ($121.6 million).
Coming Soon reports that Disney and Pixar’s Finding Dory has set a new Thursday preview record for an animated film, bringing in $9.2 million. This places it above Minions ($6.2 million), Despicable Me 2 ($4.7 million), Toy Story 3 ($4.0 million) and Inside Out (#3.7 million). The movie is off to a solid start at the Friday box office for a projected weekend debut in the $30 million-$34 million range.
Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, suddenly begins remembering glimpses of her past and the parents she left behind in California, setting her off on a quest to be reunited with them.
Dory may have trouble recalling exactly what – or who – she’s searching for, but she won’t give up until she uncovers her past and discovers something else along the way: self-acceptance.
Maybe you’re still on the fence (yeah right) or maybe you just want to watch about six clips from Finding Dory.

This is the flawless movie for a family outing on the public holiday and any time thereafter. That’s exactly what the Pixar sequel is doing at the box office.
Finding Nemo’s co-writer/director Andrew Stanton once again pens the screenplay and steers the action (this time with the help of Angus MacLane) ensuring that, for fans, it’s a welcome addition to that fishy tale, with the same blend of humour, compassion and family-loving warmth. Finding Dory sits somewhere in the middle – it’s a charming follow-up with plenty of laughs and life lessons, but leans a little too heavily on the lasting appeal of its predecessor.
