Watch Budweiser’s New Pro-Immigration Super Bowl Ad
The 60-second ad shows Busch meeting Eberhard Anheuser, his future partner in Anheuser-Busch, in a bar with Anheuser saying, “You don’t look like you’re from around here”.
A century and a half after its conception, Adolphus Busch’s family is still involved in the company.
Budweiser’s new Super Bowl ad portrays the 1857 journey of its co-founder Adolphus Busch from Germany to St Louis.
He starts his journey of immigration on a ship with rough conditions, being whipped across the ocean. And we all know how that duo turned out.
“The powerful thing about the story is the fact that it’s a human story and the human dream resonating”, Ricardo Marques, vice president of Budweiser, said in a statement.
Though the true story of the founding of Budweiser may be slightly different, many wondered if the company was being dramatic or political.
In its news release with the video, Budweiser stresses that the ad is about the American Dream, and does not take a political tone with the commercial.
The commercial includes crowds shouting at the young man, telling him “you’re not wanted here”, as Busch makes his way to St. Louis, Missouri.
About Budweiser Budweiser, an American-style lager, was introduced in 1876 when company founder Adolphus Busch set out to create the United States’ first truly national beer brand – brewed to be universally popular and transcend regional tastes. But during Super Bowl LI, Audi will run an ad it hopes will bring attention to something far-more important: Gender equality.
Given the outrage and controversy surrounding Donald Trump’s new refugee ban, we’re sure this pro-immigration message will certainly strike a cord with people around the country!
A-B said the “American Dream” theme in the ad will be a central theme for Budweiser throughout 2017. Super Bowl broadcaster Fox is charging more than $5 million for a 30-second ad slot this year.
