Watch Hillary Clinton break the glass ceiling, virtually
The last time a Democratic National Convention nominated a Clinton for president, the party faithful were celebrating free trade, fighting crime, deficit reduction and welfare reform. Instead, they featured photos of her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and her opponent, Sen. “That’s just who she is”.

Ed Mullen, 49, a delegate from IL, said he supported Sanders but would vote for Clinton in November.
Hillary Clinton was affirmed as the party’s nominee Tuesday night at a convention that appeared to be finding its stride as it focused on appealing to the coalition Clinton will need to win – blacks, Hispanics, women and young people – and putting to bed the drama of formally defeating liberal challenger Bernie Sanders.
The speech concluded the big speeches of the night – but the newly minted nominee followed up with a surprise satellite video that showed a slideshow of U.S. Presidents leading to a graphic of glass shattering and then Clinton.
Now at the convention, many Sanders supporters still refuse to endorse Clinton.
Clinton waged another hard-fought primary battle this year, beating off an unexpectedly strong challenge from the left by Bernie Sanders, a USA senator from Vermont.
Earlier this month, Sanders was able to secure certain concessions from the party in the creation of its platform, a document he hailed as “the most progressive platform in the history of the Democratic Party”. “America has changed in very fundamental ways, and I think Hillary Clinton has stayed abreast of her times”.

Numerous disgruntled Sanders supporters say their opposition to the TPP deal has become a point of unification and has emerged as one of the significant reasons why they refuse to automatically throw their support behind Clinton.
Kaine’s allies, both in the Clinton and Sanders’ camps, say his record must be judged in totality. Her convention has made little mention of the economic insecurity and anxiety that has, in part, fuelled Trump’s rise with white, working-class voters. “They know more than we do, it’s like we just got here”.

Former Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln recalled fellow senators wondering whether Clinton would require a lot of attention when she joined the Senate in 2001.
Bear Atwood, 56, a Terry, Mississippi, civil rights attorney and at-large delegate, was moved to tears when Clinton became the nominee.
“She can’t wait to gloat on Thursday”, says Dallas about her mother. “Anybody who goes into campaigns not running scared can end up losing”, he said.
Former President Bill Clinton gave a 40-minute speech Tuesday, pairing rom-com details of his courtship of now-wife Hillary with her political and public service biography.
“I first proposed to her on a trip to Great Britain”. “I think you’ll be rewarded mightily by our press”. By his account, he was a bumbling, scared kid who couldn’t muster the courage to approach Hillary and talk to her. It was Hillary, he said, you actually walked up to him and got the conversation rolling.
