Watch Jack Black in the New Trailer for Goosebumps
The plot of Goosebumps is about the classic franchise literally coming alive to feast on our flesh. Couple that with being released around Halloween (and a script penned by the writers of, um, Screwed), and R.L. Stine is getting goosebumps thinking about all the money he’s about to make. I wanted more intensity from my horror than I felt stories aimed at children could deliver.
Anyway, I have Sony some grief last month for allowing their Adam Sandler video game fantasy Pixels (which my daughter really wants to see) to go out as a PG-13 when it seemed to making the sell as a family-friendly PG-rated action fantasy. Now, the series has finally been treated to a big-screen adaptation. The Rob Letterman directed film based on the R.L. Stine novels stars Jack Black, Dylan Minnette and Odeya Rush.
Upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the handsome girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door.
Goosebumps will be in theaters October 16th. But then Zach and his pal (Ryan Lee) accidentally open one of the original manuscripts Stine keeps locked away… and that leads to a whole heap of chaos when all the weird creatures, monsters and other beasties are suddenly loosed upon their town.
