WATCH: LeBron James and Kyrie Irving Torch the Wizards

When Wall poked the ball away from Irving and sprung Dudley for an uncontested dunk midway through the first, Cleveland coach David Blatt called timeout with his team trailing 13-8.

James hit 3-pointers on four of five possessions, and the lead got to 18 at one point.

Irving dominated from there, scoring the game’s next 10 points. “It was nuts”, said J.R. Smith. “And I think that was an example of that”.

He scored nine points and passed for three assists during the fourth quarter while James was resting.

They’re averaging exactly 10.0 three-pointers per contest and are even better over the past couple weeks, sinking at least 11 triples in four of their last five games, averaging 12.2 treys per contest over that stretch.

Both teams shot over 53 percent from the field. The Cleveland Cavaliers are shooting 35.7 percent from beyond the arc and 72.4 percent from the free throw line. As sharp as they looked against Washington, they still had only 16 assists on 48 baskets, as James and Irving did most of their damage in isolation sets.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 21 points and reserve Brandon Jennings supplied 17 points and six assists in his fourth game of the season as Detroit blew out Orlando. When Wizards coach Randy Wittman went with a small lineup, it forced Blatt to take Kevin Love off the floor and alter how the Cavs dealt with pick-and-rolls.

“Too much Kyrie”, the Washington guard said.

“I know in my head what he can become in this league”, James said of Irving. “When I’m able to play like that and get other guys shots and be aggressive and guys are hitting shots, gosh, the game is so fun”. The All-Star guard was eventually named Eastern Conference Player of the Month. Things changed dramatically Monday in large part to Irving, who continues to work his way back from offseason knee surgery. The four-time MVP – who notched his 1,600th career steal on Monday night – comes into Wednesday’s game feeling fresh after having the luxury of watching his squad’s previous two fourth quarters from the bench.

“He’s one year ahead of me, battling for a few years now”, Irving said of Wall.

With fifteen wins to their name so far this season the Wizards are a fair way further down the Eastern Conference table in twelfth. One game earlier, he had similar remarks for anyone doubting Irving’s worthiness in the February showcase. “We knew what they did to us, and we just wanted to try to get some get back”. The Wizards are off extra rest heading into this Verizon Center event which has offered extra healing time to the likes of Gary Neal (back), DeJuan Blair (leg) and Drew Gooden (calf).

However, he was not with any National Football League team this season after being waived by the Bengals on September 5, so Wednesday’s signing with the Texans was welcome news. The next matchup also is in Washington on February 28….
