Watch mammoth giant squid try to steal fishermen’s catch from underneath their
There have been a few sightings of giant squids that washed a shore dead.
Successful, the squid moves away to the cheers of the fishermen.
It is not clear yet if the squid in the video is a giant squid or colossal squid.
Footage of an impressive giant squid filmed by Russian sailors has emerged online, with the animal attempting to steal the fishermen’s catch.
The squid is estimated to be about five times bigger than the huge fish it attempted to snatch. The sailors can then be heard cheering after the squid retreats.
Although the exact species of the squid is unclear, it is likely a giant squid as it is not as large as a colossal squid – although it could be a baby. Both measures about 12 meters long with the vast majority of the length attributed to the tentacles.
“Its eyes are supposedly the largest in the animal kingdom, as big as a basketball perhaps”. The first pictures of a living giant squid residing in its natural habitat were not captured until 2004.
Ah, sure they’re only 40 feet, never mind so, they’re grand. These giant creatures a still a mystery to science and little is known.
