Watch Never-Before-Seen Robin Williams Outtakes from Aladdin
The Aladdin team stopped by Good Morning America on Friday, October 9, to share the news and remember the late comedian. The “Aladdin: Diamond Edition” Blu-Ray combo is coming out on Tuesday.
Oh, they had a little bit of help as famous Disney composer Alan Menken was there with his piano and played the music.
This was the first time Kane and Salonga had sung the classic Disney ballad since performing at the 65th Academy Awards in 1993, at which they won for Best Original Song. “We knew this was going to be the magic carpet trip”. A coroner’s report said the beloved 63-year-old actor had Lewy Body Dementia, a common but hard to diagnose condition that may have contributed to his decision to commit suicide.
“When Tim Rice came on to writing with me on Aladdin, I quickly put together this song and “One Jump Ahead” and quickly flew over to London”, Menken said of the songwriting process behind “A Whole New World”.
“He was the Genie”, added Aladdin’s co-director and screenplay writer John Musker.
Now, the 1992 film is being digitally re-released, along with never-before-seen clips from the House Of Mouse that feature outtakes of Williams’ vocal work! “If he said no, we were in big trouble because the whole concept was built around Robin”. “We would record in four-hour sessions”.
“Robin Williams took his own life previous year – on August 11, 2014 – and we will never be over it.”Aladdin” was released last week on Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere”.
The clips show the actor voicing the popular Disney character as he does impressions of pop culture figures such as Don King and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
