The UNC Tar Heels pulled off their 8th straight win of the season on Saturday against their bitter nearby rivals the Duke Blue Devils. The 6-foot-1 guard joins center Tony Bradley and forward Brandon Robinson as Tar Heel signees so far for the Class of 2016. Over the next three weeks, it may be the deciding factor in the Blue Devils’ season. He has thrown for 2,117 yards and 15 touchdowns for the season, while rushing for another 558 yards and six touchdowns. “You do the best you can to create that, but when it’s their offensive system and how they operate, you never quite get it to the actual speed that it’s going to be in the game”. I don’t think he played a poor game. Yet, the result remained final. North Carolina was predicted to finish in 5th place in the Coastal, and ESPN’s David Hale had them at 10th on his preseason power rankings. Miami simply needs a three-game winning streak and they can find themselves competing in the ACC Championship game.

However, for everyone that thought Miami would have a down year because of the talent that they lost on their team are now looking back and feeling foolish. If there’s one thing the Wolfpack has going for them, it’s the knowledge that if it does score 41 points again this week, it should be enough to win. Duke will also get a spark as senior defensive end Kyler Brown is expected to return this week after missing the last two games with a sprained MCL.

I am half tempted to not even talk about the game because I am not sure we can add anything to the statement UNC made in putting up 66 points on Duke. “Just from coach Grant to (assistant) coach (Quinton) Ferrell to everybody else, the team, the students – they all loved me, and I loved them”. Duke will try to shake off this loss and prepare for Pittsburgh.

If the Blue Devils have learned anything during the last two seasons, it is that they know Pittsburgh can score. Congrats to all of the Blue Devils who earned All-ACC honors this year!
