Watch obscure up-and-comer Kanye West audition for ‘American Idol’

“My name is Kanye, I’m from the south side of Chicago”, West says while introducing himself to the judges.

During the San Francisco auditions for Fox’s hit present “American Idol” a few months again, the hip-hop mogul stunned the judges and stopped in for his personal tryout.

Remember that time Kim Kardashian previewed Kanye’s fake American Idol audition? The video also features a pregnant Kim Kardashian who crosses her fingers for Kanye, and tells Ryan Seacrest that she hopes they really believe in him. Congrats, Jen. Thankfully, the judges liked his little performance enough to give him the nod.

Kanye West is always full of surprises.

No need to fear, after the rapper busts out a verse from his 2005 classic “Gold Digger” – which of course references Lopez and her infamous derriere – the judges are more than happy to hand over that coveted golden ticket to Hollywood.

Spoiler alert: He gets a Golden Ticket. “We were in San Francisco, and they said, “We’ve got a contestant that’s just going to jump into the line, ‘” the host dished. And up walked Kim and Kanye-Kim pregnant and Kanye enthusiastic and ready to go in there”.

The final season of American Idol premieres Wednesday, Jan. 6 on Fox.
