Created by ILM’s virtual reality lab, it’s not clear how closely it ties into the film’s story, though the spaceship graveyard does look awfully familiar, and your hear BB-8 at the end.
And it seems to be working, because on “Force Friday”, fans have been queuing in front of shops across the world to be one of the first to get their hands on the new merch.

The social giant foresees expanding the feature to all user-shared video, although today capturing 360-degree video requires a specialized camera array. The character of Rey is a scavenger on the desert planet of Jakku where this battle took place, the same battle that will be available as DLC for Electronic Arts’ Star Wars: Battlefront early this December.
