The new story trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 released
The Call of Duty Twitter account started tweeting to its millions of followers that a 30-mile quarantine zone had already been set up after an alleged explosion at the Northbank of Singapore Marina.
Netizens reacted on Activision‘s “Call of Duty” marketing campaign on Twitter. It means that those left behind will still get to play Black Ops 3 Zombies Mode and the online multiplayer, as well as a copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops.
In an effort to promote upcoming video game “Call of Duty: Black Ops III“, the Activision-owned account sent a series of tweets out starting a few minutes after midnight that were supposed to tell the story of a fictional terrorist attack that took place in a densely populated section of Singapore.
Follow-up tweets described it as an attack at a chemical facility along with riots taking placed and Martial Law being declared.
LavenderTownMarowak (@athenahollow) September 29, 2015This @CallofDuty Twitter stunt is so bad. international video game news sites like Polygon and IGN called the tweets “tacky” and “irresponsible”, while the hundreds of tweets in response to the stunt said it was in poor taste.
Publisher Activision launched the Black Ops 3 story trailer today, a main feature of the game that has become a new-gen console and PC exclusive. “What idiot thought this was a good idea?” one user wrote.
Not long after, the game’s official Twitter account reverted back to its original form and indicated that the previous tweets were merely offering glimpses of what can be expected inside “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3″.
