“Hey, Jack, I’m freezing”.
The Washington Redskins vs New York Jets (live stream & scores here) matchup: Wash Redskins vs. NY Jets in an action-packed Week 6 afternoon game of the 2015 National Football League regular season that gets underway at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick found Eric Decker for an 11-yard gain on first down, but rookie safety Kyshoen Jarrett stripped the ball out of Decker’s hands, which was recovered by Bashaud Breeland at the New York 37-yard line.
Entering this one the Jets (3-1) will look to capitalize off of their win in London while the Redskins (2-3) try to rebound from a loss to Atlanta. Brees connected excellently with Ben Watson, who posted a career high of 127 yards receiving, including a fourth down touchdown catch.
The Jets season appeared doomed when Geno Smith had his jaw broken before the first game and was ruled out to play for a couple months.
Still, no-nonsense Jets coach Todd Bowles is making sure his players aren’t thinking about the Patriots, who take a 4-0 record into their game at Indianapolis tonight. They won only four games past year; their fourth consecutive non-winning season. They’ll be missing two starting offensive linemen, including Kirk Cousins best protector, tackle Trent Williams; bad news on a week where the Jets get behemoth defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson back in the lineup. Who knows? Maybe Robert Griffin III will find his way into the game.
Cousins took advantage of the turnover, moving the team 37 yards in 7 plays before tossing a short pass to Pierre Garcon for a touchdown. He also doesn’t pose any threat with his legs, having only gained 1 yard on the ground.
The Jets responded, moving 83 yards in 10 plays before Chris Ivory plunged in from 2 yards out to tie up the game at 7-7.
After two quick plays – a Morris run and Garçon catch – Cousins hooked up with tight end Derek Carrier, who was wide open down the middle of the field, for a gain of 20 and the first down.
Washington’s pass defense has been good and should be able to give Fitzpatrick a few trouble, but Ivory should have a productive game against a front seven that is allowing 4.4 yards per carry.
