Water tanker scam report: BJP seeks Kejriwal’s arrest
Everyone is well aware of how Kejriwal always lays the blame at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s doorstep for nearly anything that goes wrong in Delhi.
Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has already sought the arrest of Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung and BJP’s Lok Sabha member Maheish Girri in the case of murder of M.M. Khan, an estate officer of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). Presently, the powers of the Delhi government are limited as key subjects in the city are controlled by the central government.
Since 2015, the AAP has consistently claimed that a referendum to decide on Delhi’s separate statehood would not be unconstitutional – but experts have suggested that Indian constitutional provisions do not allow for a referendum to decide the issue. “What action has PM Modi’s Police taken against them, despite there being evidence?” asked the AAP. In such a scenario, the issues that are a bone of contention between the Centre and AAP government in Delhi need to be sorted out mutually or else Delhi will continue to suffer.
The bills which were returned in the last few weeks include the Janlokpal Bill 2015, the Minimum Wages (Delhi Amendment) Bill 2015, Delhi School (Verification Of Accounts and Refund of Excess Fee) Bill 2015, Delhi School Education (Amendment) Bill 2015, Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Delhi Amendment) Bill 2015 and a Bill related to working journalists. “In a democracy the will of the people is supreme”, said Ashish Khetan, senior AAP leader and vice chairperson of the Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi. “Is the Centre the headmaster of the Delhi government?”
The Opposition said the AAP is trying to hide their failure behind it.
A week after he suspended three DJB officials over alleged delay in water projects, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today appeared to have mellowed down as he held a review meeting with officials and “expressed satisfaction” with the board’s work.
His comments came a day after Kejriwal accused Modi of “declaring Emergency in Delhi” following Aam Aadmi Party MLA Dinesh Mohaniya’s arrest over the charges of molestation and sexual harassment of women.
