Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores ‘loves’ hearing Odion Ighalo to Arsenal rumours
Ighalo could be busy in the summer anyway, with the chance to play for Nigeria at the Olympic Games, and that is something Sanchez Flores would not block.
Watford sit on 36 points in the Premier League table with 12 games remaining and Flores believes reaching the 40-point mark – generally regarded as guaranteeing safety – will take the pressure off his players.
Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores says his side’s recent record against Bournemouth will count for nothing when the teams meet this weekend.
He told reporters at a press conference, via Goal.com: “He is one of the best strikers in the division so [speculation] is very normal”, Flores told reporters on Thursday.
But really we have some but they must have to be in form by then.
That said, Bournemouth have lost just one of their last seven league away trips (W3 D3 L1) and they won are unbeaten in four against the Hornets, winning once.
“But the situation is that we create attempts, but the players who score are Ighalo and Deeney”.
Arsenal are thought to be lining up a £20million bid for the striker and Flores hinted that he could move on in the summer.
That defeat was the club’s third in a row at home in all competitions and, with just four points separating them from Newcastle United in 18th, concerns are growing that they could yet be hauled back into a relegation scrap.
Last season’s automatically-promoted duo face off this weekend at Vicarage Road as Watford host Bournemouth in the Premier League.
He said: “I know that other players need to support the goals of he and Ighalo, of course”.
“It is even tougher now we are in the Premier League but I felt we showed a lot of quality and confidence against Everton, especially the lads who have not been in the team. He has had a very serious injury, he has completed his recovery and he is a very good player, so we are supporting him”. “But now we are focussing on the present”.
