Watford close in on Diamanti deal
“It was a disappointing time so I have something to prove”, Vydra, who joined Watford permanently on a five-year deal in the summer, told reporters.
All three scored prolifically last season to help Watford win promotion to the Barclays Premier League.
Vydra is competing against Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo for the main attacking berth.
Matej Vydra admits that he has a point to prove ahead of Watford’s meeting with West Bromwich Albion.
He added: “It’s the best in league in the world and I saw the quality of players like David Silva and Eden Hazard first hand”. In this case some of the players need to work a bit more to be in the first eleven.
Tony Pulis’ club continued its struggles against the Citizens on their home turf as they had not won a game versus City at The Hawthorns since December 2008.
Now, Vydra wants to right the wrong after being handed another chance with new boys Watford.
Watford coach Quique Sanchez Flores says a deal for Alessandro Diamanti is close but does not believe it will be done before Saturday.
“I like the players to be happy in the week, and then we have to decide on their role depending on their feelings and performance in training”. I am working the same with the whole squad but some players connect a bit late with the idea of the team. “It is hard for Saturday but it’s close”, Flores said.
