Watford Coach Confident Ighalo Will Not Be Leaving In January
Jurgen Klopp accused his Liverpool flops of losing their minds in Sunday’s woeful 3-0 defeat against Watford.
The livewire German manager remains fully confident he can transform Liverpool’s maddening inconsistency, but accepted that remains his toughest Merseyside battle.
“I don’t want to talk about that (possibility)”, said Watford’s Spanish coach Quique Sanchez Flores, who only took over in the close-season and had to integrate more than a dozen new players into a squad that had just won promotion. They are the ones who are going to be afraid of us because we went into the game at the back of three wins and they need the win.
“We have a few days before the next game and we will work on it”.
“After Southampton [6-1 win], everybody thought “wow”, and after Man City [4-1 win]”.
“We can’t think too much about being one point off the Champions League places because our first target is to collect 12 more points to preserve our Premier League status next season. Now everyone saw the complete other side”, Klopp said. “It’s not that bad”.
However after starting of the match against Watford, Liverpool conceded their first goal at 3 minutes of match’s first half and second goals they conceded in 15 minutes.
Liverpool were rendered toothless in attack by Klopp’s decision to field Roberto Firmino as a false nine.
Skrtel limped off before half-time and Divock Origi came on hoping to make an impression as dramatic as last weekend’s when his goal in the sixth minute of added time earned Liverpool a draw against West Bromwich Albion. The 27-year-old was faced with his first corner in the big-time and with little pressure he managed to get two hands on the ball, however he fumbled it in front of Nathan Ake who toed it home to give Watford an early lead.
Benteke has been linked with a January move to Chelsea, but Klopp insisted there was no chance the former Aston Villa star would be sold just six months after moving to Anfield.
“We made bigger mistakes than the referee”.
None of Klopp’s players will have left the pitch feeling they had done themselves justice, a collective failure which was utterly baffling. “It’s up to the players to change this”.
“All I’ve read until now was nil per cent and I haven’t heard about this”.
