WB Games Announces Hitman 2

Agent 47, star of the popular Hitman series of games, is cold, calculating and precise. Interactive Entertainment and independent game developer, IO Interactive.

Of the six new locations, only Miami has been revealed so far, but the official HITMAN website has locked placeholders for more. Two days later the image was shown without the filter along with a date and time. Your targets are named Robert and Sierra Knox. Interactive and IO have dropped a surprise reveal trailer for Hitman 2.

It’s safe to say then, that Hitman 2 has some very big Italian loafers to fill, as Agent 47 continues his story. Agent 47 will have a near-endless array of tools and disguises with which to dispatch his target and, if Hitman 2 is anything like the last entry, player creativity will be paramount and endlessly encouraged. IO Interactive also let us know that the sniper briefcase will make a return. Whether it is hiding in foliage, or pulling an Ezio Auditore, and blending in with the crowd, it is clear to see that the Stealth mechanics have gone through a huge overhaul since Hitman. Users will have access to a bunch of new weapons they can use against enemies – including a fish. The store page description claims Hitman 2 will take you to rainforests and sun-drenched streets in search for the elusive Shadow Client in an attempt to put an end to his militia.

As much as I liked Hitman’s approach to episodic content for letting me focus on and savor one location at a time, it felt like IO struggled to effectively communicate the release model to potential players. We’re also told to expect information about new modes and features closer to launch, so it sounds like the Hitman 2 deserves to be a numbered entry. Pre-orders are already available with one basic and three special editions to suit each taste.
