WCAX.COM Local: Can Bernie Sanders maintain presidential momentum?
Dunn calls Sanders the Republican Party’s “best friend” and says the GOP should “turn Bernie loose” in his campaign for the Democratic nomination. But should it be? “If you start to see stories pop up that have some finger prints, we’ll know they’re taking it seriously”, Hagner said. “I think that is one of the challenges his campaign is going to have to confront”.
Let’s be honest, our democratic hearts were set on Hillary and our first female president. He’s rising in the polls, drawing huge crowds and raising an impressive amount of money.
“Today we learned that Jeb Bush’s Super PAC raised over $100 million in a few months”, the Vermont senator said. Previous secretaries of state have said they did the same thing. Then, more than 2,500 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and this week, another 7,500 in Portland, Maine. The polls have shown a surge, too.
Here’s the “rush” transcript CNN sent out right after Clinton’s interview with Brianna Keilar on Tuesday.
In Iowa, he’s further behind – by nearly 20 points. Clinton has almost 50 organizers in Iowa alone, as well as at least one in every other state. She finished a disappointing third there in 2008 behind Barack Obama and John Edwards.
Just in case anyone is interested in clarifying the meaning of the phrase “softball questions”, CNN’s interview with Hillary Clinton this week contained two stellar examples. “And the truth is, everything I did was permitted”, Clinton said, referring to her use of her private email account to communicate with staffers, dignitaries and others from 2009 to 2013.
“First of all, I always thought this would be a competitive race”, Clinton said. I’ve seen it all.
And, she underscored that in Iowa, in particular, it’s all about early legwork. “But I can live that life for my son.'”. “Secondly, folks that want to come here should come legally, to learn English, to learn our values, to roll up their sleeves and get to work”.
Nick Merrill, a spokesman for Clinton’s campaign, said Wednesday that Clinton “was asked about her decision not to retain her personal emails after providing all those that were work-related, and the suggestion was made that a subpoena was pending at that time”. Sanders has neither of those assets; at this point, Clinton has both.
“The similarities [between Dean and Sanders] is in the fan base and in the intensity”.
So, yes, Sanders is still a long shot.
Clinton revealed in March that she deleted about 30,000 emails from her time in office, describing them as “personal” and saying she had “no reason to keep them”.
So, as much as we all love Hillary and want a female president. “You have to work really hard”.
He’s also trying to broaden his appeal to Hispanic and black voters. “He’s a force…. It’s to be expected that Sanders will do well in a Democratic primary”.
“Usually for all the drama in between, front runners win”.
He added that the subpoena asked only emails pertaining to the attack. “There’s got to be some give on both sides”. Bill Bradley (D-New Jersey) in 2000. One example would be in leading an effort against the Keystone pipeline. That’s the role that Bradley played for Gore. I think there’s a lot of people who don’t understand what your thought process was on that.
The problem for Gowdy is that Clinton clearly wasn’t responding to the question of whether she’d ever been subpoenaed by the Benghazi Committee but whether she’d been subpoenaed before she wiped the emails from her server. But for now, Mellman says there hasn’t been anyone in such a strong position for Democrats this early on in recent memory.
