‘We are absolutely overwhelmed’ NHS Choir beats Justin Bieber to Christmas
In the final hours of the race, Bieber’s song Love Yourself was neck-and-neck with a tune called A Bridge Over You, which was sung by a group of nurses, doctors and others from England’s National Health Service’s Lewisham and Greenwich Choir.
The choir were trailing Bieber in the chart race earlier in the week, but pulled ahead of the Canadian pop star after he asked his fans to support their cause.
“So we have to send him a massive “thank you”, Joe Blunden, an NHS communications manager who is one of the organisers of the choir’s chart campaign, said.
‘It’s a brilliant celebration for the NHS across the country so well done and thank you everyone for downloading and streaming.
Bieber still holds a strong chart presence with three of his songs placing in the second, third and fifth positions in the charts. It’s Christmas. NHS Choir good luck’.

Their song is a mash-up of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Simon and Garfunkel and Coldplay s “Fix You“.
Proceeds from the single, made to celebrate National Health Service workers, will help several United Kingdom charities.
And the NHS Choir are absolutely thrilled with the news!
“So for one week it’s OK not to be number one”.
Nerva said: “We think the NHS needs the Xmas number one more than Justin Bieber”. “So…so for 1 week it’s ok not to be #1”, the singer tweeted. According to the Daily Mail, the contenders had been neck-and-neck all week, with just 622 sales between them on Christmas Eve, but a late surge put A Bridge Over You at No. 1.
