We Don’t Need Gun Control to Stop Mass Shootings
Hollywood is to blame for the culture of violence, but the gun culture itself has nothing to do with it. The shooting, which comes about a month after the Las Vegas massacre, is being described as the deadliest shooting at a place of worship in the U.S.
Months earlier, after the mass shooting at a historically black church in South Carolina, Obama said: “At some point it’s going to be important for the American people to come to grips with it, and for us to be able to shift how we think about the issue of gun violence collectively”.
Dr. Jackie Campbell can provide comment on the growing evidence of the link between those who commit mass acts of shooting and their prior history of domestic violence.
There’s still some shock left from the faces of the Texas death toll, which included a pregnant woman, a five-year-old child, and the pastor’s teenage daughter. All charges were later dropped.
Take and pass a shooting range class.
As with past mass shootings, there will be some reflection and debate on the need to change USA gun laws after the Texas church shooting.
At the same time, however, while I’m extraordinarily grateful for the courage of the good guys with guns who’ve ultimately put a stop to multiple mass shootings – including this terrible massacre – it’s not at all clear to me that good guys with guns present the answer to our troubles.
Many other celebrities showed supports and prayed for the victims and their families. The only thing that stopped the bad guy with a gun was the bad guy with his own gun. Continuing to ignore that fact means not only questioning the mental health of the shooter, but our own. Of the world’s estimated 650 million civilian owned guns, almost half – 310 million guns – are owned by Americans.
Law enforcement, the city and the state should work to trace the gun back to the original purchaser and see where it went wrong, she added.
Police say multiple weapons were found in Kelley’s vehicle. The same survey explains that most victims don’t consider the justice system “an appropriate vehicle for resolving conflicts with intimates”. More “not the time to talk about gun control”. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) was receiving widespread applause for speaking with impassioned frustration about the failure of US lawmakers to address the “epidemic” of gun violence and murder that has gripped the nation in recent decades. The pro-gun group takes the same stance on domestic violence, and has recently pushed for bills allowing in IN and Tennessee allowing survivors to carry handguns without a license. Wisconsin’s weak gun laws enable gun traffickers, and other criminals and unsafe individuals to purchase, possess, and use guns in crimes in cities, towns, and neighborhoods outside Wisconsin.

Perhaps most importantly, gun control laws, whether effective or not, restrict essential, inalienable rights that belong to every American adult.
Strong gun laws are clearly associated with lower gun death rates, and strict background check laws are the first step to keeping guns out of the hands of risky people (see: http://bit.ly/2xkqAIY).
