‘We have Trump’s tax records’
The clips have gone viral, now a friend has stated that the First Lady isn’t happy in her new life. So the question of what is in Mr Trump’s tax returns – and why he won’t publish them – has simmered on.
Maddow’s big scoop ended up showing nothing more than that Trump made a lot of money in 1995 and paid his taxes, and at a higher rate than both former President Barack Obama and Vermont Sen.
And David Cay Johnston isn’t some random reporter.
The president has consistently fought the claim that he is not worth has much money as he contends.
“He’s the only person who could leak it without concern of being sued by Trump or anyone else”, speculated Maddow. “And I said, ‘Hmm, yes, but we need to do our due diligence, too”.
Maddow admitted to having two entire shows planned in the event the docs turned up fake. Trump has said he will push to end the Alternative Minimum Tax, which was conceived to keep wealthy Americans from escaping tax liability. “And they never officially got back to me they put out a statement, which tells you this really got under Donald Trump’s skin”. Sources of income could show ties to Russia, China or foreign banks.
Viewers grew infuriated as they watched the journalist eke out the announcement for up to half an hour opting instead to use the spotlight to discuss the US President’s links to Russian Federation. “It’s a national security concern”. People are really concerned to see what’s in those tax returns. “Because, otherwise, we’re gonna continue to worry that that might secretly be what’s driving him as long as he doesn’t show us what every other president has shown us”. By now I’m pretty sure Maddow gets the point and she has to be at least embarrassed by all this.
The cable network host said her team spent Monday and Tuesday working on the task. The crew even produced alternate shows in case the documents proved to be false. On the contrary, the White House seems to have acknowledged the opposite.
“If he wants to engender public trust in his leadership, he’ll seizes that chance”, the Post says.
What we got was a reminder of the difference between USA and Australian media.
