We’re getting there, says Rovers caretaker boss
KESHI ANDERSON may have only signed for Doncaster Rovers just seven days ago, but he already has a considerable interest in who gets the full-time managerial position.
“It was nice to hear the fans singing and for me to get the standing ovation as well on Tuesday”.
He feels he is making an impact on the team but Rob Jones is unwilling to say whether he thinks he has done enough to earn the manager’s job at Doncaster Rovers on a permanent basis. “But I made a run after around 20-25 minutes and I felt the hamstring tighten up, so I was no good to them out there after that”.
“Dany’s just been unfortunate because he’s come in and done really well”.
Anderson, who has spent time at Watford’s academy, hit 32 goals in 53 appearances before securing a trial at Brentford – with Palace quickly pouncing after he hit a six-minute hat-trick against them.
“I have trained sporadically over the last few weeks, but when the chance comes calling I don’t go and hide, I put myself to the front”, said Jones.
“Maybe there will come a point where I have to come out and play again”.
Despite the disappointment of the 2-2 draw, Jones is confident Rovers are progressing under his stewarship.
“It’s about moving the football club forward and improving performances on the pitch”.
“Luckily we had the willpower to go and get the equaliser at the end”.
On being back playing rather than watching on from the dugout, Jones added: “I have done it before, but it is a bit different now the reins are all yours”.
“I want to be a manager”.
Jones started at centre half for Rovers for the first time in more than a month but was forced off through injury after 36 minutes.
Not that the strong-willed central defender will stay down for long.
“Hopefully I can marry the two together”. I have been in the game a long time.
“I am vastly disappointed as it has been a while since I last played”.
