Weather radio service off the air in 6 Central Florida counties
A “high surf advisory” and a “rip current statemet” are in effect until 9 p.m. Friday.
Scenes of pandemonium were common across Southwest Florida Friday morning, with strong wind and rain canvassing the area.
The Orlando weather radio transmitter serving Orange, Lake, Seminole, Polk and Osceola counties was off the air Sunday morning as a severe storm system slashed through the state.
Tornadoes aren’t likely but are possible on the Treasure Coast, according to meteorologists. “But this is a time for people to stay alert”.
“Even in the afternoon, we can expect wind gusts between 30 and 40 miles per hour, maybe even upwards of 45”, he said.
Late Saturday through early Sunday another front will move across the Gulf and approach Southwest Florida, bringing another round of rain and thunderstorms.
Monday through Wednesday of next week will bring the return of more sunshine to the area, but temperatures will be cooler with highs only in the mid to upper 60’s.
