Weather service confirms tornado struck northwest Alabama
The National Weather Service has confirmed four tornadoes touched down in IN on Wednesday, two near Indianapolis and two in eastern Indiana.
Crews assessing the damage Thursday concluded by late morning that a tornado had hit.
Aside from some broken fences, no serious damage or injuries were reported.
Just before 7 p.m. the National Weather Service reported from the Canton Fire and Rescue that thunderstorms produced wind damage along the Industrial area.
The EF-0 is the weakest on the scale and this tornado produced estimated maximum winds of 65 miles per hour.
Roofs were removed from buildings and trees and tree limbs were brought down during the storm.
A tornado watch is in effect until 3pm for Ballard County in western Kentucky, and for Alexander and Pulaski counties in southern IL.
December tornadoes in West Virginia are rare occurrences, according to the weather service.
The Christmas Day forecast is partly sunny with a high of 46 degrees.
