The Chief Forecaster told Pirate FM: “A low pressure system is expected to move east to the north of Scotland on Saturday strengthening winds across the United Kingdom but particularly across England and Wales”.
A Met Office weather warning will be in place across the South-east for much of the weekend as blustery weather sweeps across England and Wales.
Londoners are set for a miserable weekend of strong winds and rain but the capital has escaped the worst weather conditions with some areas of Britain braced for 70mph gales.
On Sunday, gusts of 60mph are possible.
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for southern and central parts of the United Kingdom this weekend but said we are unlikely to see Storm Clodagh.
The Met Office warning said: “Please be aware of the potential for some disruption due to the strong winds”.
The wind is expected to further strengthen from the west on Sunday where gusts around western coasts could reach 60-70mph.
The Environment Agency has also issued a number of coastal flood alerts in Cornwall to coincide with high tides.
Wind warning runs from 9am tomorrow until 6pm on Sunday and the rain warning starts at 12.45am on Monday and tuns until midnight on Tuesday.
Flooding is expected at South Parade in West Kirby, North Parade, Hoylake, Meols Parade and Kings Parade and Ian Fraser Walk in New Brighton.
